This is the first Kitesurfing NationalCircuit stop.
The first place winner was Sean Farley ofCol.
Second place was Adam Withington, of Quintana Roo. Third place winner was Raquel Arrollo of Nay.
Fourth place winner wasMiguel Manzanilla of Quintana Roo (Cancun).
Fifth place winner wasFrancisco Chan of Quintana Roo.
Sixth place winner was Marco Silva ofD.F.

We are proud to announce that Adam, of Cozumel, won thirdplace in Mexico's kite boarding national championship in PuertaVallarta in May 2007.
Adam has been kite boarding since his dad, Dan Withington became hiscoach in Jan. 2006. Living in
Cozumel allows Adam to practice any day the wind is right.

Learning to Kite

To learn to kite, Dan taught Adam all the physical theory behindkites and kite boarding. Then, they hit the beach.

After learning to fly the large kite required from the beach, on thesand, Adam gets into the water.

Instructor is holding the kite. Adam now will get his feet inthe boots of the board or just get ready to get on the board.

Then, he lets go and Adam takes the kite into the air, allowing hisbodyto drag in the water.

Adam now gets onto the board and is ready to get up on the board.

Finally, he gets up and the kites pulls him into standing.

He kites towards the south with all the others. Dan, theinstructor runs along the shoreline.

One year later, after many afternoons of the same, Adam is kitingregularly.

Adam turned 17 (2007)years old this month. He has lived in Cozumelsince he was born. He was on
Cozumel's swim team for many years, competing with older children andconstantly winning.
