Punta Sur Park

Punta Sur Ecological Reserve is a new park. It contains a large area
encompassing the southern tip of the island, including the large Columbia
Lagoon. The only practical way of going there is to rent a car or scooter;
there is no taxi stand, and, usually, few people. This is an ecological
reserve, not actually a park, so it is pretty raw and not overbuilt. There is
hardly any infrastructure. The reserve has an information center, several
observation towers, and a snack bar. In addition, there are four boat rides per
day around the Columbia Lagoon, where guides point out things of interest about
the habitat (bring bug spray). Punta Sur has some interesting snorkeling (bring
your own gear), and lovely beaches kept as natural as possible. Regular hours
are 9am to 5pm. Admission is $15.
Look at the Culture Package special we have to offer you Chankanaab, Punta
Sur and the Museum for a discount price of $25, with a $5 savings.
